Privacy Policy for Hookd

This privacy policy governs your use of the mobile software application Hookd (“Application”), a phishing detection and education tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze message content.

What Information Does the Application Obtain and How Is It Used?

User-Provided Information

The Application does not require account registration and can be used anonymously. If you choose to contact us for support or feedback, we may collect information you voluntarily provide, such as your email address and message content.

Automatically Collected Information

The Application may collect limited technical information automatically to help improve performance and user experience. This may include:

• Device type and operating system version
• IP address (used for basic telemetry)
• Device identifier (anonymized)
• Usage data (e.g., which features are accessed)

This data is collected in aggregate and used solely for analytics, crash reporting, and feature improvements. We do not use this data for tracking or advertising, and it is not linked to your identity.

AI Features and Message Processing

On-Device AI

Hookd includes an on-device AI model (e.g., LLaMA). When this option is enabled, your message is processed entirely on your device.

No message data is transmitted or stored externally when using local analysis.

Remote AI (Optional)

If you choose the remote analysis option, your message content is securely sent to a third-party AI provider (e.g., Google Gemini) for evaluation. The content is processed to return a classification result.

We do not store message content, and no personal identifiers are sent. The third-party provider may log request metadata in accordance with their own privacy policy.

You can choose between Local or Remote AI analysis at any time in the app's settings. No message content is retained after a classification result is returned.

Do Third Parties See or Have Access to Information?

We share data only in the following limited circumstances, including:

• With vendors or analytics providers who assist in improving the Application.
• Data remains in your chosen region and isn't used to train foundation models unless you explicitly opt in.
• As required by law or legal process.
• To investigate fraud or protect users or our rights.
• As part of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, but only in connection with the business transaction.

We do not sell user data or use it for advertising purposes.

What Are My Opt-Out Rights?

You can stop all collection of information by uninstalling the Application.

You can disable remote message analysis and use only local AI by adjusting your settings within the Application.

If you have submitted support requests and wish for your data to be deleted, please contact us using the support option within the app.

Data Retention

We do not retain message content submitted for analysis.

Aggregated analytics or telemetry data may be retained for up to 24 months.

Support messages may be retained as long as needed for troubleshooting or communication unless deletion is requested.

Children's Privacy

Hookd is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child has submitted personal data, we will promptly delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used the Application, please contact us.

Security

We take commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

• Secure transmission of any remote requests
• Optional on-device AI to avoid data transmission
• Minimal data collection and short-term retention
• No usage of data for advertising or profiling

However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes

This policy may be updated periodically. If changes are material, we will notify you via a notice in the Application or via App Store update notes. Continued use of the Application after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

Your Consent

By using the Application, you consent to the practices described in this privacy policy, including the use of on-device or remote AI processing based on your settings. Data may be processed in the United States or other regions depending on the infrastructure used.
